Supply Spotlight: Meet Sword & Plough, a Veteran-Owned Business
Our military roots run deep here at WILCO SUPPLY. (If you’re not quite familiar with my story just yet, check it out here.)
For that reason, I welcome any opportunity to collaborate and partner with military- and veteran-owned brands. Why? Because when we join forces in business (and life in general), amazing things can happen! I know that to be true because I’ve been lucky enough to experience it.
That’s why, for today’s supply spotlight, I’d like to introduce you to my friends at Sword & Plough.
Here’s What I Love about Sword & Plough

Its business model. The company takes military materials that would typically get discarded (think fabric, leather, and hardware) and repurposes them into something new—like a tote bag, rucksack, or even jewelry beautifully handcrafted from shell casings.
- Its commitment to empowering veteran employment. Since 2012, Sword & Plough has empowered veteran employment (65+ jobs!) at every stage—from the design process to manufacturing, fulfillment, sales, and more.
- Its passion for giving back. Ten percent of the company’s profits go right back into the military and veteran space, supporting organizations such as Got Your 6 and Team Red, White & Blue.
- Its products are made in the USA. Veteran-owned or partially-operated manufacturers in California, Colorado, Florida, and Kentucky are responsible for making the Sword & Plough collection of bags and accessories.
The Backstory on Joining Forces with Sword & Plough
Let’s rewind to 2017, shall we?
That year, I got an email from a team member at Sword & Plough. I loved the brand and mission and, at that time for WILCO SUPPLY, I was only carrying bags that were military compliant.
So, when they asked if I'd like to join forces for a collaboration, I couldn't help but say YES.
Not only was I excited about the opportunity to expand our supply to include a veteran-owned brand that features items made by veterans using upcycled military materials, but I was also a big fan of how, while we’re two different businesses, we’re aligned in many ways!
Here’s an example to prove it: I'm passionate about taking care of our environment and sustainability (especially given the fact that I live and work in none other than Anchorage, Alaska). And remember, so is Sword & Plough!
